Natural fracture growth plays an important role in shale-oil enrichment. Systematically investigating features and their controlling factors reservoirs is essential for accurately predicting distribution. The of distribution the continental shale Qingshankou Formation Songliao Basin, China, were systematically analyzed based on quantitative characterization outcrops cores. Strata-confined fractures, throughgoing bedding-parallel stylolites can be observed reservoir study area. Fracture not only controlled by internal factors, e.g., mineral composition, mechanical stratigraphy, lithofacies, but also external faults abnormally high pressure readings. Mineral composition primary factor governing development, it controls abundance, affects filling effectiveness. Mechanical stratigraphy determines spatial morphology developmental pattern a fracture. Fractures are well-developed brittle strata, with spacing being proportional to bed thickness. Lithofacies determine development variation rock structure, thickness, etc. Stress concentration commonly at fault tips, intersections, overlaps, where density has good connectivity. existence reduces effective stress, promoting shear development. Tensile overpressure fractures generated under small levels differential stress.
